How windstorm & TWIA coverage works in Corpus Christi.

On the Coastal Bend, windstorm and hail is the part of the policy most likely to be
wrong — and most people find out at claim time. Depending on where your home sits and when it
was built, that coverage can often sit inside one homeowners policy instead of a separate
windstorm policy. We are independent, we compare 20+ top-rated carriers, and you do not need
to dig out your paperwork to start.

Most homeowners find out what their policy really covers at the worst possible moment.

After a Gulf Coast storm is a bad time to learn your dwelling limit was based on
market value instead of what it actually costs to rebuild, or that water backup was
never included. The policy was never wrong — nobody walked you through it.

  • ×
One company, one price. A captive agent quotes the only carrier they represent, and you never see the alternatives.
  • ×
Coverage gaps nobody mentioned. Flood, windstorm, water backup, and scheduled valuables are usually separate — and usually skipped.
  • ×
Gone after the sale. At claim time you get a 1-800 number instead of the person who sold you the policy.
  • How we work instead: many carriers compared, every coverage layer explained in plain English, and a named advisor who advocates with the carrier when you file.
What your policy covers

Six layers of protection — and we walk you through every one.

A homeowners policy is really several coverages bundled together. You should know
what you have, what limits apply, and where you need an add-on.

1

Dwelling

Repairs or rebuilds the structure itself — walls, roof, floors, built-in appliances —
after a covered peril. Based on actual rebuild cost, not market value.

2

Personal property

Furniture, electronics, and clothing if they’re stolen or damaged, including items
temporarily outside the home. Replacement-cost options available.

3

Liability

If a guest is injured on your property or you damage someone else’s. Covers legal
defense, court judgments, and medical payments.

4

Additional living expenses

If the home is uninhabitable after a covered loss, this pays for the hotel, meals,
and extra costs until repairs are finished.

5

Other structures

Detached garages, sheds, fences, and driveways — typically 10% of your dwelling
limit. We check whether that’s actually enough.

6

Optional add-ons

Where the gaps usually are: water and sewer backup, scheduled valuables for jewelry
or art, equipment breakdown, identity theft.

How it works

Three steps, about five minutes of your time.

No office visit required. If you’d rather do it over the phone,
call (361) 808-4988.

1

Tell us about the property

Name and phone number to start, then we call you. We’ll go over the address, build year
and roof age on that call, and if you have a current policy, send the declarations page
and we’ll compare against it line by line.

2

We shop the carriers

We put your property in front of many top-rated carriers and bring back the options
side by side, with the coverage differences explained — not just the premiums.

3

You pick, we stay

You choose the policy that fits. We handle the paperwork, then review it at renewal
and advocate with the carrier if you ever have to file.

How windstorm works here

Whether you need TWIA depends on your address and your build year.

Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) exists as a last resort for coastal property that
private carriers will not write for wind and hail. It is not automatic, and it is not always your
only option. Three things decide it:

Where the home is

Barrier-island and immediate-coast addresses are treated very differently from inland
Nueces or San Patricio addresses. Two homes fifteen minutes apart can have completely
different options.

When it was built — and whether it is certified

Build year and windstorm certification (the WPI-8) drive what a private carrier will accept.
Newer construction with certification opens doors that older, uncertified property does not.

Which carriers you actually have access to

A captive agent can offer you one company’s answer. Independent means we can ask 20+ carriers
whether wind and hail can go inside one homeowners policy — one policy, one deductible
conversation, one place to call at claim time.

We will tell you straight if TWIA really is your best
route. Sometimes it is. Either way you will know why.

“We built this agency on relationships, not transactions. Every client gets
a real person who knows their name and their situation.”

Common questions

Before you send the form.

Anything else, just ask — that’s what the phone number is for.

Does a quote cost anything or lock me in?

No. Reviewing your options is free and there’s no obligation. If your current policy
is already the better fit, we’ll tell you that.

Is flood the same as windstorm?

No, and this is where most claims go wrong. Flood is rising water and is always a separate
policy. Windstorm and hail is wind-driven damage, and that can often sit inside your homeowners
policy. We show you exactly where each one stops.

Do I have to leave TWIA to talk to you?

No. The review is just a comparison. If TWIA plus a homeowners policy is genuinely the better
structure for your address, we will say so.

What do you need from me to start?

Just your name and a phone number. When we call we’ll confirm the property address
and build year, and if you have a current policy, the declarations page makes the
comparison far more accurate.

Do you only work with Corpus Christi homeowners?

We started here in Corpus Christi and that’s still home, but we’re licensed to serve
clients across all 50 states.

Will I get passed around to a call center?

No. You get a named licensed advisor who handles your policy and picks up when you
call about it.

How to tell whether TWIA is the right fit.

Send the form or pick up the phone. Either way you’re talking to an independent
Corpus Christi advisor whose only job is getting the wind and hail coverage right.
