Texas requires liability coverage on every registered motorcycle – 30/60/25 minimum. That minimum protects other people, not you, and it does not touch your bike, your gear or your medical bills.

Roughly one in eight Texas drivers is uninsured. In a car that means a repair fight. On a bike it means serious injury with no one to pay for it. UM/UIM covers your medical costs and lost income when the at-fault driver cannot. It is inexpensive and we recommend it on every motorcycle policy.
Exhaust, seats, paint, saddlebags and chrome usually fall outside the standard limit – many policies cap accessories at $1,000 or $3,000. If you have $10,000 in add-ons, the limit has to be scheduled up front, not argued about at claim time.
Some riders drop coverage over winter. Keep comprehensive in force – theft and hail happen in the garage – and we can lower liability instead so you are not paying full price for a bike you are not riding.
We generally recommend liability well above the state minimum, full UM/UIM matching that liability, medical payments, and agreed-value physical damage on anything newer or customized.
Passenger liability deserves a specific look. Some policies limit or exclude injuries to a passenger on the bike, which is exactly the person most likely to be hurt in a motorcycle accident.
Texas has no universal helmet law for riders over 21 who complete a safety course or carry qualifying health coverage, but insurers still weigh safety training – a completed course often earns a discount.
Storage matters on the coast too. A bike in an unattached carport is treated differently than one in a locked garage, and it shows up in the comprehensive rate.

Only if the policy includes riding-gear coverage. It is usually an add-on.
Yes, and it usually discounts all three. See bundling.
